Terlingua
This true Texas ghost town was originally a remote mining location for the historic Chisos Mining Company. After decades of abandonment, Terlingua has seen a resurgence of local art and culture in the area.
It’s also home of the world-famous Terlingua Chili cook-off, and several historic locations like the Terlingua Trading Company and Starlight Theater.
Not only is Terlingua worth the trip by itself, but the trip is worth it, too! Loma Paloma RV Park sits along the beautiful Texas Mountain Trail highway, which follows along the Rio Grande and leads to Terlingua, as well as . Big Bend Ranch State Park / Big Bend National Park. Taking in the sights of this historic highway is an adventure in itself! You’ll find several pull-offs along the way to stop and marvel at the views. This route is a blast for motorcyclists and a gorgeous trip for all involved.
NOTE TO RVERS: The route from Loma Paloma RV Park to Big Bend National Park (past the State Park entrance) includes a 15% grade. Know your limitations before heading this way with your rig!
